At Vilnius City Hall—different generations, different musical voices, and a single tradition that unites them, carried on in the name of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis. The concert “A Wreath for Čiurlionis” at Vilnius City Hall will bring together young musicians from the M. K. Čiurlionis National School of the Arts and one of Lithuania’s most prominent professional choirs, “Vilnius.”

The concert will open with the youngest Čiurlionis students—the school’s youth choir, conducted by Saulė Kriščiūnaitė. The program will continue with the most outstanding performers of the younger generation—winners of international and national competitions: violinists Rokas Diržys and Emanuelė Jakštaitė, harpist Lina Lipnickaitė, saxophonist Gabrielius Martinez Martin, pianists Saulė Kundreckaitė, Elinga Stigaitė and Aronas Ruminas, flutist Saulė Bužinskaitė, and clarinetists Motiejus and Martynas Vilius.

The young performers’ program ranges from M. K. Čiurlionis’s preludes to virtuosic works by Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst, Pablo de Sarasate, Fryderyk Chopin, Claude Debussy, Johannes Brahms, Henriette Renié, Benjamin Godard, Eugène Bozza, and George Gershwin.

The concert will conclude with a performance by the “Vilnius” State Choir, led by principal conductor Artūras Dambrauskas. One of the most important features of the choir’s artistic vision is its special focus on Lithuanian and contemporary music, premieres of new works, and unexpected musical projects. On the evening of November 22, alongside the music of M. K. Čiurlionis, the choir will perform works by contemporary composers, created specifically for last year’s celebration of Čiurlionis’s anniversary.
